***2nd Call for the 2017 NADEF***

--Apologies for cross-posting--

Hello all,
The 27th Annual North American Dendroecological Fieldweek (NADEF) will be held at the A.L. Mickelson Field Station near Cody, Wyoming. The fieldweek will run from July 22 through July 31 and registration fees will be $1300 US for students and $1500 US for professionals. Students should send a photocopy of their student ID with their registration. Your registration fee includes round-trip transportation between Yellowstone Regional Airport in Cody, WY and the field station, field excursions, room and board for the entire week. Registration fees are due by May 30, 2017.

Projects include

Introductory Group: Grant Harley (University of Southern Mississippi), Stockton Maxwell (Radford University), and Christopher Gentry (Austin Peay State University) This group will learn the basics of dendrochronology, including more time spent on site and tree selection, crossdating, detrending, and understanding chronology development.

Advances in Dendroentomology: Jim Speer (Indiana State University). This group will investigate spruce budworm outbreaks in the region with a focus on developing methods to separate signal (outbreak information) from noise (climate information) in tree-ring records.

Blue Intensity Analysis: Rob Wilson (University of St Andrews), Bryan Black (University of Texas – Marine Science Institute), and Lauren Stachowiak (Eastern Washington University) This group will use BI techniques as a reliable surrogate for maximum latewood density analysis.

Dendroclimatology: Matt Bekker (Brigham Young University), Justin DeRose (US Forest Service), and Joey Pettit (Utah State University) This group will conduct a streamflow reconstruction and examine various methods of quantitative analysis.

Fire History: Margot Kaye (Penn State University), Peter Brown (Rocky Mountain Tree-Ring Research), and Sabrina Brown (University of Nebraska). This group will examine the fire history of sites around the Absaroka Wilderness Area.

Treeline Dendroecology: Maegen Rochner (University of Tennessee) and Henri Grissino-Mayer (University of Tennessee) This group will investigate tree line dynamics at high altitude sites near the Absaroka Wilderness Area.
