PaleoEvent Data Standards for Dendrochronology – Registration of Interest due 30 April 2017

We announce a call for interest in a workshop 10-14 September 2017 to develop a new data management framework applicable to fire history and all other tree-ring paleoevent data.  It will provide for robust metadata records and be current with leading data management standards.  Some travel support is available.

Where:  Manitou Experimental Forest, Woodland Park, Colorado, 80863, USA

Led by:  Peter Brewer and Elaine Kennedy Sutherland

Who:  Open, but limited to 15 participants.  The group will include scientists with diverse skills and interests.  Limited funds are available to support travel, provided by a grant from PAGES.  Here is the workshop description including overview, goals, and link to the registration form (due 30 April 2017).    PAGES will have final approval of the participant group.

Expected products

-          Extension to the TRiDaS data model to accurately describe paleoevent data

-          Manuscript for peer-reviewed journal; description of this framework

The ultimate goal of this work is the creation of a public archive for dendrochronological paleo-event data, potentially via NOAA NCEI.
