Hello everybody

I’m posting this in the tree ring listserv, because the project involves the use of techniques from tree-ring research applied to shells.  So if you want to branch out into the marine environment, look no further!

We’ve been awarded significant European funding for a collaborative project based on sclerochronology (shell-ring research) - a Marie Curie Initial Training Network called ARAMACC (Annually Resolved Archives of Marine Climate Change).

The idea behind these projects is to train PhD students (called ESRs, or Early Stage Researchers) in the full range of skills associated with the research field.

From the point of view of sclerochronology, this is clearly a great opportunity to move the field forward with an injection of new blood, and new ideas.

So, if you know of any suitable potential students for these positions, I hope you can consider pointing them in the direction of one or more of our studentships.   And if you are one of those students, please don’t hesitate to investigate these opportunities

We hope to interview in January 2014, with a view to starting in Spring 2014.

For details, go to the ARAMACC website

Best wishes
